Cayleigh + Anthony’s Proposal | The Petal Report

Here at The Petal Report, we just celebrated our two year anniversary at the end of May, so when my lead planner, Emma, approached me saying we should have a TPR branded shoot to celebrate the milestone with one of our favorite photographers, The Happy Bloom, I thought nothing of it. As we were going to have our headshots taken, we knew hair and makeup, as well as getting our nails done, was necessary. Emma was able to enlist a great team of vendors to pull together a #petalworthy shoot for us to have photographed. Little did I know that Anthony was behind the whole thing! He had approached Emma with the idea and she expanded on it to completely surprise me.

As we arrived at The Dewberry Hotel’s rooftop on Friday afternoon, the heaven’s opened up, and it started to pour. Everyone seemed a bit anxious about it but I thought they were just bummed we wouldn’t be able to take photos outside, not knowing that was where the proposal was to take place. An hour later, the clouds parted and Emma rushed me outside so we could get photos overlooking the skyline with our TPR balloons. Justin with The Happy Bloom had me facing out towards the city, to capture a scenic shot. As I was staring off into the distance, Anthony came up behind me and told me to turn around. As you can see in the photos, I was completely shocked as I thought he was in surgery (he is a resident at MUSC). He was down on one knee and asking me to be his wife!

After squealing for five minutes straight, I said “yes”! Many hugs, kisses and “how did you do this?!” later, he apologized my family wasn’t able to make it down for the proposal. He knew that was something that was very important to me, but I knew how hard it is to coordinate everyone’s schedules so I completely understood. Walking back inside, Emma suggested we head to the bar on the first floor to celebrate with more champagne. Justin joined us, with his camera in hand, which I thought was odd, but went with it. As we rounded the corner, Anthony said he would never pop the question without our parents and my sister…so standing in the lobby was our family! Lots of happy tears were shed and we continued the celebration at a popular restaurant downtown where some of our best friends joined as well.

I am a difficult person to surprise as I am very intuitive and a snooper but Anthony completely blew me out of the water. He planned the proposal of a lifetime and it will forever be one of my favorite days. I love you, Anthony, and can’t wait to be your wife! Thank you to all of the vendors who made this happen and our families and friends for being involved.
